So far your business has survived the turmoil caused by Covid-19. You’ve even made some rapid changes to how you trade, how your people work and how you use new technology to allow you to maintain social distancing. Some of these changes have happened at a rate that you would never have achieved without the crisis. Your surviving, you have learnt some new tricks, but are you going to thrive in the coming years?
Now is the time to revisit the very core of your business model and decide what to keep, what to throw out, and what to build. It’s your business and you are in control. Work out what you want, and drive the people in your team to deliver it.
- Think about your business’s Purpose – does it really reflect what you want your business to be?
- What is your Ambition? Where do you want to be in the market? What will people say about you?
- How will you achieve that Ambition? What are the Critical Success Factors and Themes that you need to work on?
- How will you measure progress? Define the metrics that will allow you to drive your vision through the business
- Carry out an Initiative Review. Are all of your efforts contributing to achieving your vision? Stop those that don’t make sense – they are wasting your limited resources!
- Define the projects and initiatives that are key to you success, prioritise and resource them to deliver quick results
- Set clear objectives from top to bottom of your organisation, aligned to the vision, then hold people accountable for delivering the results.
